With so much going on at Augusta National, there are literally countless attractions for the fans to focus on at the 2023 Masters. With the return of Tiger Woods to the course and the presence of 18 LIV Golf players at the tournament, there is a lot of excitement regarding the event both on and off the course. However, out of all this, Sergio Garcia has something else to worry about. In fact, he recently got into a heated conversation with a reporter during his interview at the Masters. And his response to the fiery questions has surely landed him in the headlines.

Sergio Garcia gets fired up during his Masters interview

Garcia, 43, made a bold decision to move to LIV Golf leaving his PGA Tour legacy behind. The golf star lost the support of tons of fans for his rather controversial career decision, but had no regrets over it. However, despite being all cool about his stance towards the Saudi league, the golfer recently became allegedly confrontational during his Masters Tournament.

When a reporter asked the Spanish professional how he felt about being back at Augusta, Garcia decided to snap at him for absolutely no reason. And it took no time for the conversation to turn into a heated back and forth between the two. “Totally normal. You guys need to stop it. You guys are making a big deal out of this, and it’s you guys,” he responded in reference to the LIV Golf vs PGA Tour squabble. However, there was no direct question about the matter whatsoever.

Immediately confronted by the reporter’s “No, it’s not’ remark,” Garcia said, “Yes, it is. I’ve had nothing but great things from every single player I talk to. So please stop it and talk about the Masters.” Well, it’s understandable enough that despite the never-ending battle between the Tour leagues, golfers are now tired of answering on their Tour’s behalf.

What did Garcia say about the DP World Tour vs LIV Golf verdict?

The 2017 Masters champion was also asked about his views on the recent decision from the Sports Resolutions. Apparently, the UK-based panel has ruled in favor of the DP World Tour’s ability to both fine and suspend LIV players for playing in conflicting events without permission. However, in his response, Garcia claimed to be unaware of the decision. Rather, he denied speaking about it without the much-needed information.

“How can I talk about something I don’t know? Obviously, I don’t look at the news. So I don’t know what happened,” he said. And not just that, but Garcia also avoided making statements about his future on the European Tour. With his 2-over 74 opening round on Thursday, the golfer is currently far behind numerous players on the course. And it’s safe to say that Garcia might merely make the cut at the 2023 Masters!
