Although Patrick Cantlay is among the top golfers globally, his slow pace during The Masters’ final round left some golf fans uninterested. Cantlay played alongside Viktor Hovland in the penultimate two-ball at Augusta National on Sunday, and Hovland’s action indicated that he had grown tired of the pace by the time they reached the 13th green. What was that action?

Hovland sent a coherent message to Cantlay about his pace on Sunday at Augusta. Viktor Hovland and Patrick Cantlay were playing alongside each other.

Hovland didn’t wait for Cantlay to reach the green after hitting his wedge shot 40 feet away over Rae’s Creek. Instead, Hovland proceeded with his third shot from the left side of the green.

 

A video has surfaced on the internet and, well, fans are definitely not happy to see Cantlay’s ungodly pace. A fan commented, “Is he slow playing?” whereas another one called him, “Human rain delay”. Taking another dig at Cantlay, fans called him names and commented, “Patrick Cantplay”, “Patrick Slowplay”. 

 

Many fans suggested that Cantlay should be put on the clock. “Get him on the clock”, the other one said, “He needs a pitch clock. I think I saw about a 5 min setup to putt on 13 which he missed.” Another fan commented, “Can’t believe they didn’t put him on the clock!”

 

Another fan suggested that Cantlay should have been penalized for this pace, “Cantlay should have been penalized”.

 

One more fan went ahead and suggested that the slow pace of golfers should be taken seriously, “Slow play is killing the game and golf officials need to step up and sort it out.” 

A fan had some prayer ideas for Cantlay and his pace, “Was praying for some wind and a tree for him!”. Another fan definitely did not hold back and suggested that Cantlay should go to LIV Golf, “The pga should give cantlay a free transfer to LIV.”

Brooks Koepka shared the same thought and brutally commented on the slow group. Koepka missed his chance to take $3.24 million home.
