While on the other hand, one of Smith’s best buddies, Billy Horschel, decided to stick to his legacy on the PGA Tour. As tweeted by FlushingItGolf“It’s cool to see that Billy Ho went up to Cam Smith on the practice field yesterday and gave him a hug. “All my mates are still my mates” 👍.

The page also posted a picture of the two fishing partners hugging on the field with Smith smiling wide! Notably, fans had all kinds of reactions to the news on social media. Here’s what some of them had to say:

“Wasn’t Billy trying to get on LIV?”

“Where you play golf doesn’t come between fishing partners if you are a real fisherman😊”

“Smith and Billy are great friends. Smith took his own boat ride with Billy.”

“Shocking, if you leave the tour with class, people still like you.”

“Billy has heard the feedback. He knows the media is the problem, not the players.”

“That is cool. Why can’t we all just get along (and golf)?”

“They fish all the time together”

“Cam n Billy 👏👏👏❤️”

Well, it was surprising to see how despite the great divide, fans finally chose to see beyond the rivalry and accept the players for their personal relationship with each other. As nice as it was to see Horschel reaching out to his buddy, it was equally humble of Smith to keep the LIV Golf vs PGA Tour scuffle aside for a minute.

“He would be the biggest loss in my mind…he would be a big loss. I’m biased. He’s one of my best friends. He would be the biggest star to leave the PGA Tour at this point in time.’’ Horschel added.
