It has been a year since LIV Golf entered the golf world and changed everything. The PGA Tour found itself a rival as many players left the Tour to join the Saudi-backed circuit. PGA Tour commissioner, Jay Monahan, kept making changes and increased the purse of several events. When this happened, everyone said that the PGA Tour players should be thankful to the LIV Golf League as the increased prize money and perks on the American Tour are due to them. And after all these months, a PGA Tour pro has finally come out and expressed his feelings regarding Phil Mickelson and LIV Golf.
PGA Tour pro expresses gratitude towards Phil Mickelson
Piers Morgan posted an appraisal tweet for the six time major winner. He appreciated how ‘lefty’ was able to finish second at the age of 52, while breaking two precious records. The pro golfer’s final round (65) was the lowest round in Masters history by a player aged 50 or older. A PGA Tour player, Dylan Wu, followed suit after Morgan, in his appreciation for Mickelson.

He re-shared Morgan’s tweet and wrote, “Can we realize just for a second how amazing Phil played at the Masters. He just won a major 2 years ago, just finished runner-up at the Masters.” Wu added, “When everyone said he was washed up, and put more money in the pocket of every player on the PGA Tour! Thank you @PhilMickelson.” Finally, someone thanked Mickelson for his contribution to the epic sport of golf.
However, it wasn’t exactly the first. PGA Tour loyalist, Jon Rahm, also once expressed the need to be thankful to LIV Golf. In 2022, in an interview during Hero World Challenge at Albany, the 2023 masters winner said, “I think on this side of things, we should be thankful that LIV happened.” He confessed that he was unsure if the changes on the PGA Tour were possible if it wasn’t for LIV. According to the pro. The perks and benefits introduced on the PGA tour were all due to LIV.
How did fans react to the gratitude?
In 2022, Mickelson also expressed that the players of the rival Tour should be thankful. The defector revealed that the Saudi-backed circuit has made the life of the players easy regardless of the Tour they belong to. He talked to Sports Illustrated and said, “I think players on both sides of LIV and the PGA Tour are appreciative of what is happening. Every player is benefiting.” But what do fans think about it?
