The 87th edition of the Masters Tournament will commence at the Augusta National in just a few hours. All eyes are on Tiger Woods as it is his 25th Masters, and as he vies for a 16th major championship. He attended a press conference ahead of the event and talked about his ‘alleged’ final Masters event. But that was not the highlight of the press meet. Amid the excitement of the green jacket, Woods looked joyful talking about his son, Charlie.

Tiger Woods has a different glow talking about Charlie

Golf Channel posted the video of Woods’ press conference on their YouTube channel as well as on their Instagram, captioned: “Tiger Woods lit up talking about the joys of playing with his son Charlie.” The former number-one golfer talked about his time with his father, the late Earl Woods. Remembering his time, he got emotional and compared it with Charlie, and talked about his late-night putting practice sessions with his son.

Expressing his feeling, Woods said, “It’s incredible. The bonding, the moments that come because of this sport, share some memories and create new memories with my son and then also pass on some of the things that I’ve learned.” He emotionally added, “I’ve learned a lot of things in this game, so we’ll pass that on to him and others. It has been fantastic.” The 15 times major championship winner has not played many tournaments since his car accident in 2021, owing to his grave injuries.

However, when he is with his son, “the joy is different” for him. One of those cherished memories is Woods teaching the sport to his son. He was the first on-course coach for Charlie, just like his father, Woods Sr., was for him. When Charlie was just 4 years old, he was swinging his clubs like his father. The PGA Tour pro said that Charlie emulates whatever Woods does. “I do. I’ll hit and he’ll hit, and his swing starts mimicking what I am doing.”

A father appealed to the golf world

The 82-time PGA Tour champion in 2013 is not just a great golfer but an excellent father. Indeed, he wants Charlie to be perfect with his swings, but he also doesn’t want to steal his childhood away from him. When asked about his training with Charlie last year, Woods said he shoots people away and allows his son to enjoy the game without any pressure. Woods appealed, “Let him be a kid.” The pro emphasized  that Charlie was just a kid and that he won’t be able to play exactly like his father.
