Just days ahead of the 87th Masters, another big name from the golfing world has taken a swipe at LIV Golf. On Thursday, retired professional golfer and commentator, Sir Nick Faldo, weighed in on the drama.

Last year, the likes of Phil Mickelson, Bubba Watson, and Patrick Reed made waves when they defected from the PGA Tour to join Saudi-backed LIV Golf. The two golfing factions have been embroiled in an ugly battle for months.

With 18 LIV golfers competing at the Augusta National this week, Faldo’s not-so-pleasant comments about the defectors have spurned yet another discussion.

Three-time Masters champion, Nick Faldo takes a swipe at LIV golfers

Sir Nick Faldo is all set to return as a commentator for the 2023 Masters. Golf enthusiasts can’t wait to see the legend in action.

However, Faldo’s recent comments on LIV golfers have ruffled quite a few feathers. Speaking to the Telegraph for an interview, the 65-year-old said that the PGA tour defectors should “not get all uppity” when people “object.”

“Hey, if you want to go and do something different, fine,” Faldo told the Telegraph. “But this [playing in the Masters] is a bit like: You had a job in a store, and now you’ve got a new one, then you’re calling the store demanding you get a bonus.”

I’ve got nothing against these guys; the grass is greener on the other side and all that,” continued Faldo. “But don’t get all uppity if people object when you come back.

This is not the first time Faldo has taken a jibe at the LIV golfers. Earlier this year, in an interview with Sky Sports, he opined that LIV’s European players should not play in the Ryder Cup.

LIV golfers hoping for positive outcomes

For months, fans speculated whether LIV golfers would participate in the 2023 Masters. Fred Ridley, the chairman of Augusta National, put rumors to rest in December last year. Ridley had confirmed that all golfers eligible to play under their previous criteria would be allowed to compete.
