Masters might not have been great for Garcia, but he received the respect he deserved. The 2023 Masters winner, Jon Rahm, paid a subtle tribute to the Spanish golfer. Post his green jacket victory, Rahm attended the press conference. He was asked what made his dreams come true. To everyone’s surprise, he said, “I think the main thing, something that gave me a lot of hope, and that kind of started when Sergio won in ’17.” The 2017 Masters winner could not repeat history, but he ignited a fire in a fellow Spanish golfer. However, Garcia’s lash-out was more in the news than his missed cut!

The Spanish golfer lost his cool

When asked on Thursday how it felt to return to the Masters, Sergio Garcia rebuffed the question, thinking it was about LIV Golf rather than how his game was doing. “Totally normal. You guys need to stop it,’’ said the golfer after opening with a 74. He added “You guys are making a big deal out of it and it’s you guys.” His snap was unexpected but understandable.
