2023 is not the first time that Masters have become prey to the harsh weather. Similar conditions of unfavorable weather were observed back in 2007. For this year, Augusta has been blanketed in cold, wind, and rain since day 2 of the tournament. Even for day 3, the play was called off after the Juniper, 6th hole at Augusta, was done with. Brooks Koepka had some thoughts about the suspension.
Koepka expresses his affirmation on the suspension
On Friday, day 2 of the Masters, the weather conditions worsened, and consequently continued on day 3 as well. Players on day 2 who had to finish their second round faced harsh weather. Luckily, Koepka was not one of those players. But he was in the final group that had to play on Saturday.

By the time, he reached Pampas, the 7th hole at Augusta, with Jon Rahm and Sam Benett, it was flooded. As a result, the game was suspended for the rest of the day. “It’s obviously super difficult,” was the comment that Brooks Koepka made about the weather conditions shadowing the play at Augusta.
“That 7th green was soaked,” Koepka said. He continued to express that it was a good thing that the game was called off, “It was very tough. I thought I hit a good bunker shot, and it looked like it just skidded on the water. So I’m glad we stopped.”

Keopka thinks that it was indeed a “spot on” decision to suspend day 3, “I think it was spot on. Maybe I couldn’t have hit that bunker shot on 7, but at the end of the day, it’s fine. I’m okay with it.”

Brooks Koepka in the lead for the finals!
Despite inclement weather and interruptions to play at Augusta this year, the four-time major champion has steadily taken the lead in the ongoing Masters. Koepka has made a fantastic comeback at this year’s Masters, compared to his performance in 2022.
During the third round, Koepka was able to increase his lead, doubling it within six holes. Starting at 12-under, two strokes ahead of Rahm, he finished the day at 13-under, four strokes ahead of the Spaniard who had dropped to nine-under.
