As we head into the Masters week, all eyes turn to one PGA Tour star: Tiger Woods. Returning to the sport after 2 months and following an intensely personal emotional rollercoaster ride, the golf legend finally takes the field at Augusta. While fans are worried about how he may perform due to his constant absences and injuries, 1992 Masters winner, Fred Couples, helps them find some clarity with his recent statement!

But fans aren’t the only ones who’re enthralled; the golfers who are taking the field at Augusta are just as excited about the golf legend’s return. Couples is among those multitude of pros. The 63-year-old earned himself a lifetime invitation in 1992 when he beat Raymond Floyd by two strokes to take home the Green Jacket, and will be playing on Thursday this week too.

On Monday, Couples joined Woods for a practice round at Augusta as the fans cheered on their favorite stars. Having seen Woods’ recent form, he’s intrigued to see what the 15-time major winner will bring to the course. “He’s hitting it really strong and solid, and he looks good,” he said in a post-round interview.

The question that every golf fan has on their minds at the moment is whether the 15-time major winner has a shot at taking home his 6th Green Jacket. The golf pro’s last appearance on the course was at the Genesis Invitational two months ago. He made the cut on the second day and then went on to place 45th on Sunday. Not an ideal start, but not a terrible one either!

Moreover, the 82-time PGA Tour champion has been laden with injuries for the last couple of years, and since December of last year, he has also been suffering from a severe case of plantar fasciitis. While all these factors might make his chances at the top spot at Augusta look bleak, he has one thing going for him – the fact that he is the Tiger Woods – a legend who shocked the world with his 2019 Masters win, which is deemed by many as the greatest comeback in sports history.
