With the Masters Tournament coming up in a couple of days, fans are extremely excited to watch their favorite players on the field. Moreover, ever since Augusta National allowed LIV Golf players to participate in the tournament, the thrill has gone up to another level. Notably, fans are expecting to catch some serious action on the field. But looking at the preparations and practice rounds of some professional golfers, nothing can be determined. In fact, Dustin Johnson’s recent confession about how prepared he is for the tournament has brought things to an unexpected turn!
Dustin Johnson makes an honest confession before the 2023 Masters
Johnson, 38, has achieved several milestones in his career at a pretty young age. The golf star made a bold move by shifting to LIV Golf soon after Phil Mickelson made the transition. However, his decision resulted in him losing thousands of fans last year. But that doesn’t change the fact that he is still one of the most talented players on the field.

But despite all his talent, the golfer seems to be a little off track before the Masters Tournament. After qualifying for the tournament along with 17 other LIV Golf rebels, Johnson took to the field to practice his shots. However, things are not going as easy as he thought they would be! According to the golf star’s recent statements, here’s how it’s going for him:
“Yeah, most likely I’ll be laying up all four days unless depending on the wind and you get a good one down there…it definitely made the hole more difficult. Obviously, guys that can turn the driver over, it helps them out. It’s not really my forte with the driver hitting a draw. Still can make a 4. So there’s a lot of ways to do that.”
Well, it is definitely the case with most golfers at the iconic 545-yard 13th hole, Azalea, at Augusta. The par-5 hole now has 35 yards more for the players to cover. And other professionals including Brian Harman and Kevin Kisner have no choice but to take it as a three-shotter!
Patrick Reed revealed Dustin Johnson’s Masters struggles in another interview
Keeping in mind the impotence Augusta National holds for all these champions, the golfers are willing to be very careful with their game. However, despite hours and hours of practice, there are some who are finding certain areas of the field tougher than others. And putting light on the matter, Patrick Reed recently disclosed how his buddy, Dustin Johnson, has been dealing with things.

Talking about the controversial 13th hole, Reed said “DJ laid up both days,”. Well, looking at Johnson’s hard-hitting playing style, it was pretty surprising to know his current approach during his practice rounds. For those who are not aware, laying up refers to a situation when a player hits shorter shots to avoid hazards and penalties. And that is what Johnson has been up to during his practice rounds alongside Reed!
