Thanks to their legendary career, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson will go down as two of the most accomplished golfers. While they may have converted their long-time rivalry into friendship in recent years, Mickelson’s move to LIV Golf may have reignited a wall between the Hall of Famers. Though Woods always had the leverage of having more Green Jackets than Phil, the LIV star finally has overtaken his frenemy when it comes to a unique stat at Augusta National after his impressive performance at the Masters.

Notably, despite winning six Majors in the past, Mickelson wasn’t among the favorites to win the Masters this year. Lefty’s last pro win came back in 2021 when he became the oldest Major winner after claiming PGA Championship. However, the 52-year-old was eyeing his 7th Major title with a stunning final-round performance at Augusta National this past weekend, scoring seven under par in the final round to finish with an -8 total score, which eventually secured him the runners-up spot. Although it was only good enough to help him finish at T2, the LIV star managed to overcome Tiger Woods at the Augusta National.

While Mickelson was having one of his best rounds of golf in recent years, Woods was away from the grass of Augusta National. After merely making the cut, Woods had a poor start to the third round. With heavy rain taking over Augusta and his plantar fasciitis injury returning to haunt him, Tiger decided to withdraw from the Major.

Following his exit, the Billionaire golfer received no prize money. In order to receive the prize money, the golfer, apart from making the cut, must also finish all the rounds at the Masters. Since Tiger withdrew after the first 36 holes in the penultimate round, he received none of the $18 million. While the Billionaire golfer may not have to worry about the prize money, the early exit at Augusta National has also dropped Woods in the all-time money leader list at the Masters.

With five Green Jackets in 25 appearances, Tiger Woods was the highest earner at the Major in the Augusta National. However, the 15-time Major winner was overtaken by his friend and rival Phil Mickelson. The LIV star earned $1.584 million with a T-2 finish at this past week’s event. Following the runner-up finish, it took Phil’s earnings at the Masters to $9,773,317 in 30 appearances, while Woods has made $9,588,236 in five lesser appearances.

Though both men enjoy a lavish lifestyle by being two of the richest in the sport, they may cherish a Major win more than a position in the all-time money leader list. While Phil has managed to get above Tiger in the Masters earning list, how does this shape the PGA Tour’s earning list?

Has Mickelson also overtaken Woods in the PGA Tour’s all-time earners list?

Last year, Mickelson was suspended from the PGA Tour after his $200 million move to LIV Golf. Even though the jump brought in immense income for Lefty, he has been quite common to big cheques even during his time at the PGA Tour. Since turning pro in 1992, Mickelson has earned nearly $100 million on the American Tour.

Following his latest runner-up finish at the Masters, Phil’s PGA Tour earnings amount to $96,544,451. While he may have beaten Tiger on the Masters all-time money leaders list, Woods stands above all his rivals on the PGA Tour’s all-time earners. Woods’ $120,954,766  earnings make him the only golfer with 9-figure earnings on the Tour.

Though Tiger may be beyond the reachable limits of other golfers, Mickelson has always been the closest to him when it came to giving a tough fight. Perhaps with Phil proving he still has enough of glories left in him and Tiger suffering from injury, a win at PGA Championship can put Lefty a little closer to the Billionaire Tiger Woods in the all-time earning list.
