Brooks Koepka had seen his advantage slip over the remainder of the third round on Sunday morning at Augusta. Despite that, he still had a two-stroke lead and a golden chance to secure a significant victory for the Saudi-backed LIV Golf League. However, it all went wrong right from him having to yell “fore” after the opening drive of round 4. Though Koepka pulled off a houdini to get to par on 1, he struggled and only got his first of three birdies in round 4 on the last hole of Amen Corner. This collapse saw him card a round of three-over (75) and finish the week at T2 with Phil Mickelson.
The pain of missing out on a first Green Jacket would have been there when the 32-year-old golfer faced the media. However, he chose to make a humble appeal about a theme that was expected to dominate the 87th Masters.

The feud between the Saudi-backed league and the PGA Tour has been there ever since the former was introduced. Many golfers have shifted to LIV Golf and have been playing quality golf as opposed to some opinions.
In the press conference after the tournament ended, the host asked Brooks Koepka whether the performance of golfers from both tours “shrinks the fracture” in golf from a fan’s perspective.
The four-time major champion replied, “Yeah, I mean, I guess it is fractured, I guess, from the fan’s perspective. But as far as us, I mean, I think everybody saw it this week. It’s nice to see everybody. There’s no hard feelings pretty much. I think that’s the way everybody should see it.”
This goes to say that fans have loved to watch LIV Golfers and PGA Tour Pros playing together on the same course. More than fans, even the players had an enjoyable time and there were not any hard feelings. It definitely goes to say that the sport matters the most.
LIV Golfers made a mark at the 87th Masters
LIV golfers showcased fantastic performances at Augusta for the last 4 days. 12 out of 18 LIV golfers who were invited to play made the cut. The ones that missed out were Bubba Watson, Bryson DeChambeau, Louis Oosthuizen, Kevin Na, Sergio Garcia, and Jason Kokrak.
2018 Masters champion Patrick Reed made an adroit move to tie for fourth place, while Joaquin Niemann managed to hold on and tie for 16th. Mickelson, who teed off in the final round at -1, exited Holly on Day 4 with a score of 65. This propelled the 52-year-old up the leaderboard, making him the oldest top-five finisher at Augusta.
