$3.6 million. Yes, that was the prize money at the 2024 Masters Tournament that winner Scottie Scheffler took home with the green jacket. The two-time major champion was moved to tears and shared a sentimental “I get moved to tears pretty easily.” Will Scheffler get the chance again, or will someone else enjoy the perks of the 2025 Masters? But how much will the winner take this year? Well, quite a lot, that’s for sure!
Besides the bragging rights to say you’re “one of the Masters champions,” there are plenty of other perks that come with winning the Augusta National event. Let’s go through with it all. The Masters champion receives the iconic green jacket, a sign of their membership in the exclusive Augusta National Golf Club. Additionally, the engraver adds their name to the permanent Masters Trophy, which features an image of the Augusta National clubhouse. The winner also receives a replica of this trophy. The Masters champion also gains access to the Champions locker room at Augusta National. Lastly, of course, the Masters Tournament champion enjoys a lifetime exemption in the Masters Tournament.
Coming to the prize money, we can see an increase as compared to 2024, $4.2 million is what the winner will be taking home this time. The total prize purse this year has also seen an increase, $21 million, the highest the tournament has seen this far. Here is a complete breakdown of the purse:

How are the golfers doing at the 2025 Masters Tournament?
One of the most shocking but top contenders at Augusta National is not our defending champion Scottie Scheffler, but the English player Justin Rose. Yes, you heard that right. Currently heading into the third round, Rose has shot stunning scores of 65 and 71 in the first and second rounds, respectively. He is immediately followed by another strong Masters contender, Bryson DeChambeau. Last year, the LIV golfer had the best Saudi-backed league roster score of T6. He shared it with his fellow LIV golfer, Cameron Smith. However, heading into the third round, DeChambeau has scores of 69 and 68 in the first and second rounds, respectively.
Following them is Rory McIlroy, the Irish golfer, vying for his career Grand Slam. McIlroy had quite a disappointing first round, which led patrons to think that he just might not be up for it this year. However, he made an amazing comeback in the second round and is running right behind DeChambeau. So far, McIlroy has made 72 and 66 in the first and second rounds, respectively. However, if he manages to continue even better, then he is likely to join an elusive list consisting of the GOAT and “The Golden Bear.” They are followed by a surprisingly new but solid golfer, Corey Conners. The Canadian is enjoying a moderate season but looks strong at Augusta National with his scores of 68 and 70 in the first two rounds. The defending champion, Scottie Scheffler, is currently tied for 5th place. Will it get better for him? We can only wait and watch how this unfolds.
