A third green jacket is on the line for reigning champion Scottie Scheffler, who made history by becoming the fourth-youngest golfer to win multiple Masters titles. After claiming his first green jacket in 2022 with a 10-under par (278) win, Scheffler repeated his victory in 2024 with an 11-under (277) performance, beating out Ludvig Åberg by four strokes. The 2025 Masters, set to take place from April 10-13, promises to be an exciting event, with Scheffler facing off against a star-studded field in a thrilling 72-hole individual stroke play tournament.
Over four rounds of 18 holes, the world’s top golfers will compete against the course and against each other to achieve the lowest score possible, making it a true test of endurance and skill. With the fierce competition and the high stakes, only the best will emerge victorious and claim the coveted green jacket.
However, the real struggle begins as the second round wraps up and the cut looms. At the 2025 Masters, which takes place from April 10-13, only the top 50 players and ties will make it through to the final 36 holes, with the rest heading home. This cut rule has been in place since the 2020 Masters, when the old rule allowing players within 10 strokes of the 36-hole lead to advance was scrapped.

With an already limited field of 89 players, the competition is intense, and only the best will make it through to the final rounds. Now that it’s clear how the tournament works, let’s also learn a little something about the iconic and unforgiving course.
All about Augusta National
Augusta National is the stuff of golfing dreams – a par 72 course that stretches 7,555 yards, challenging even the world’s top golfers. This iconic venue has undergone some notable changes over the years, including a recent tweak to the par-5 second hole, where the tee box was extended 10 yards back and to the left. While there aren’t any major updates planned for the 2025 Masters, the course will be missing a few trees that fell victim to Hurricane Helene last fall.
