And one such pro golfer from DP World Tour who is also competing at the event, is facing a big dilemma due to unprecedented comparison with PGA Tour Pro Rickie Fowler. Let’s find out.

DP World Tour Pro’s comparison to Rickie Fowler

Scottish Golfer Ewen Ferguson is making rounds on the Internet these days for an unforeseen reason. Currently, Ferguson is performing at the Genesis Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club. After the third round, he is tied for the 29th rank on the leaderboard. The 27 year old has made some terrific achievements in his golf career. But these days Ewen has attracted the attention of netizens who have given hailing him as knock-off Rickie Fowler. Ferguson reacted to this nickname at the Scottish event.

Ewen is not very fond of this name but he will take what he gets. “I’ve also got this weird nickname right now, on social media people call me the knock-off Rickie Fowler. I think it’s a bit harsh but hopefully, I can play with the real Rickie Fowler this weekend, that would be pretty cool.” But Ferguson understands that his fans are doing it out of love for the extraordinary performance he has been displaying.

Ewen recognizes the love of fans and accepts it even if it is a form of a quirky nickname. “I think it’s brilliant. I think it’s a great nickname. The next Rickie Fowler would be nicer but knock-off, I’ll take that as well.” Meanwhile, the original Rickie Fowler who recently delighted fans with winning the Rocket Morgage Classic is also teeing it up at the Renaissance Club as well. After the third round, he is on T18. But the question is why is Ferguson being called knock-off Rickie Fowler?

Mind-blowing accomplishments of Ewen Ferguson

During his amateur career, Ewen was the only player to hold the British Boys title and both the Scottish Boys Matchplay and Strokeplay titles simultaneously. He was also a member of the 2015 Walker Cup Great Britain and Ireland team. He turned professional in August 2016 after which he has Top 10 finishes in many European Tour Tournaments.

In 2022 he made two wins on the tour. The first was at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters in March and the second was at the ISPS Handa World Invitational in August. His stats speak for themselves. No wonder fans are comparing him to Fowler who himself has made some similar achievements on the PGA Tour.

Though last week he had to withdraw before Made in HimmerLand event owing to migraine issues caused by his contact lenses. This week he is having friends and family coming to watch him perform at the Scottish Open since the event is in his homeland.

Only time will tell if Fergusson could be as successful as Fowler or not.
