There are several debates that can cause an uproar in the world of golf. Should the PGA and DP World Tour merge with LIV Golf? After all, so far it is just a framework agreement. Should the LIV Golfers play at the Open Championship? PGA loyalists are heckling some of them while others are delighting their fans with an appearance. The list can go on.
But there is one thing where the debate needs to end before the Open Championship begins. It has been ages and it is time to deliver an answer. So, some of the leading golfers in the community have taken the opportunity to answer the question. What is it, you ask?
Is it the Open Championship or British Open Championship?

Nothing ignites a fire like mispronouncing a name. While it was broadly known as the British Open for quite some time, let’s not forget, there has been a massive shift in the golfing universe. Tensions are running high, what with so much debate concerning LIV Golf, and now, the necessity of police intervention at the prestigious event due to an uncanny incident.
The conflicting dispute over the name of the match hardly seems relevant at this point. Therefore when returning champion, winner of the 2021 Open Championship Collin Morikawa was instigated into the debate, he provided an equally stimulating response. He said, “If you win it, you can call it whatever the hell you want.” NUCLRGolf shared his hilarious remark in a tweet.

Morikawa is known for his smart and jovial remarks. However, the debate has sustained its lifetime achievement and it is time to conclude it. The event that is scheduled for July 20th, 2023 is the Open Championship, not the British Open, as golfing diva Paige Spiranac helpfully enunciated on her Twitter.

How is Collin Morikawa’s expected performance this season?
The 2021 winner of the Major tournament is one of the top qualifiers for the event at Royal Liverpool, Hoylake. The American golfer has an astounding record on the PGA Tour and the European Tour. He made 22 consecutive cuts, which makes his record only second to that of the legendary Tiger Woods who made 25 consecutive cuts.
Aside from his stupendous swings to make the cut, Morikawa also boasts five wins on the PGA Tour to his name, including his first debut and maiden wins coming simultaneously at the PGA Championship 2020 and the Open Championship 2021. With his record, it is safe to say that Collin Morikawa will most likely make it to Hoylake. He will also strive for the title with everything he’s got.
