The 2023 Masters may be remembered for the world-class performance by Jon Rahm. However, the Major will also be recalled for the immense slow play followed by some of the golfers. Following the tournament, Rahm’s final-round partner, Brooks Koepka, revealed that the Spaniard used the restroom seven times. However, the 2023 Green Jacket winner declines using it that many times and also sheds light on the popular picture from Augusta National.
During the final round of the Masters earlier this month, many players complained of slow play. Though no one on the field blamed any specific golfer, fans on the internet pointed fingers toward the 8-time PGA Tour winner, Patrick Cantlay for the delay in the game.
The slow play at Augusta National resulted in Rahm and Koepka finishing their final round in nearly five hours. To express the delay, Koepka revealed his round partner used the restroom seven times. Nonetheless, Jon revealed the details about his toilet visits during his recent appearance at the Fore Play Golf Podcast.

Did Jon Rahm really use the restroom that frequently?
During his time at the podcast, Rahm touched on many topics such as choosing the Open Championship over the Masters, channeling his passion, and much more. The golfer then spoke on the slow play which resulted in him visiting the restroom seven times, according to Koepka. But unlike the numbers presented by the LIV Golf star, the Spaniard didn’t visit the toilet in that volume.

“He said seven I counted five”, said Jon Rahm. The golfer blamed the intense pressure of the situation that led him to nature’s call. With two holes left for him to be crowned as the 2023 Masters winner, the heat of the moment was getting the better of the Spaniard. Rahm said, “I’m nervous. The hell and if I’m gonna be waiting, I’m gonna do stuff that I don’t want to sit still on the team when I was like on 16”.
After revealing his number of visits to the restroom, ‘Rahmbo’ then talks about the famous picture which caught both Jon and Brooks waiting for their tee shot while the front pair of Patrick Cantlay and Viktor Hovland completed their 16th hole. “That picture you guys saw was after me going to the bathroom”, revealed Jon.
Though Jon Rahm did share his thoughts on the slow play at Augusta National this year, he was still being respectful about it. However, when his fellow pair Brooks Koepka was asked about the delayed play, he did not hold back.

Unlike Rahm, Koepka had no chill
After the completion of their rounds, Brooks shared his views of the slow play in the press conference. “Yeah, the group in front of us was brutally slow”, said the LIV Golf star. He also discussed Rahm’s seven visits to the toilet, which the Spaniard has now corrected. While Koepka blamed the group of Patrick Cantlay and Viktor Hovland for slow play, one of them had something in defense to say.

“We waited all day on pretty much every shot,” said Cantlay. “We waited in 15 fairway, we waited in 18 fairway. I imagine it was slow for everyone”. Though the golfers continued to play the blame game, fans are eager to find a solution for the slow play. Until then, golfers like Jon Rahm will have plenty of time to use the restroom due to the delayed play.
