The highly anticipated TGL has officially kicked off, and it’s been an exciting start to the innovative golf league. As a co-founder of TGL, Tiger Woods was on hand for the opening night, and he brought his signature enthusiasm and energy to the event. The league’s unique format, which combines virtual and real-life play, has been generating a lot of buzz in the golfing world. With its star-studded lineup across six teams and a total of 24 PGA Tour players coupled with cutting-edge technology, TGL is poised to revolutionize the sport.

The opening night’s match between The Bay Golf Club and New York Golf Club set the tone for what promises to be a thrilling season, as the Bay managed to dominate comfortably with a 9-2 scoreline after going 6-0 up in the first six holes. Further, the intrigue was further intensified as the league faced a 12-month delay owing to the arena reconstruction. However, some would say that the wait was almost worth it.

During the opening match, Woods shared a fun story about being challenged to hit a rather unusual target – the camera at the top of the giant screen. According to Woods, someone asked him to hit the camera, “I hit it kind of middle of the screen, high middle, and the guy says ‘Can you hit the camera?’” and he replied, “I don’t know, where’s the camera?” Upon being told it was at the top of the screen, Woods took aim and hit the camera with his first shot.

Netizens are getting excited over Tiger Woods’ comeback

Golf fans are always electrified at the mere mention of Tiger Woods’ name. The mere hint of a potential comeback or a glimpse of his iconic swing is enough to send the golf world into a frenzy. Social media platforms are flooded with excitement, with fans eagerly speculating about his chances of winning another major or reclaiming his spot at the top of the golf rankings. As one fan said, “Tiger is the GOAT 🔥,” while the other said, “The Greatest!” which is true, really.

One fan suggested something that could prove to be good for TGL, “Gotta make this more exciting and get the crowd involved,” while another fan talked about a similar instance that happened with TGL co-founder McIlroy. Even Rory hits the drone many times😂,” and one of those times was when McIlroy showed off his insane golf skills by taking down a drone with a precise strike at a driving ball in Abu Dhabi. He was joined by Real Madrid legend Gareth Bale, who’s an avid golfer himself, and the two had a blast competing in this unique challenge. Bale had a few close calls, but McIlroy’s shot was the one that brought the drone crashing down, prompting Bale to exclaim, “Let’s go home, it’s a wrap!”

The pair shared a high-five and some laughs, capping off an awesome day on the driving range. McIlroy’s impressive display of skill was just the icing on the cake after a strong performance at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, where he finished tied for third and strengthened his lead in the Race to Dubai Rankings.
