How did Greg Norman get the shark logo?

Norman never wanted to be a ‘ceremonial golfer’. The former champion was scared of losing his identity of being at the top after he retired from professional golf. And so, he had a unique master plan that kept him in the eyes of fans for a long time even after his retirement. The business shark opened up several businesses in all kinds of fields including real estate, clothing, wine, and restaurants.

But one thing that was common among all his businesses and ventures, was his identity of being a shark. And his brand got even more amplified due to his famous “shark logo”. But how did the idea of having one such logo land his head? According to sources, the golf star got his hands on the unique logo in the 1980s. And it was after he signed an endorsement deal with Reebok.

The company wanted to come up with a special collection of golf wear. They wanted to call it the ‘Greg Norman Collection’. According to the LIV Golf CEO, it was the same brand that designed the logo for him. “Reebok formulated the shark logo, and it got traction,” he said. But at the same time, the brand started to focus on making it the main logo for the collection.

“The Greg Norman Collection used to have the shark and Reebok [logos], but the company’s ultimate goal was to have the shark more prominent than Reebok and then ultimately just have the shark,” he explained. After getting the logo licensed from Norman, the famous sports brand gave him the logo. And the entire process was very informative for the golf ace. According to him, it was the logo that gave him most of his motivation to start his own company in the first place.
