Wayne Gretzky’s Golf Handicap

The Canadian-born NHL legend, and the father-in-law of famous golfer Dustin Johnson, enjoys his time on the course. Gretzky and Johnson can be seen playing with each other in several pro-am events like the AT&T Pebble Beach. Gretzky might not be as good as Johnson with a golf club, but he can certainly swing it well!

According to the United States Golf Association’s Golf Handicap and Information Network or GHIN, the Hall of Famer has a handicap of 9.4. Not to forget, the handicap score of Paulina Gretzky’s father was last updated in November 2020. Interestingly, Wayne Gretzky picked up golf at the young age of 14.

Wayne Gretzky is a regular playing companion of Dustin Johnson at the Sherwood Country Club in California. Moreover, thanks to golf, he met Johnson back in 2012 at a golf skills event for charity, and after that, the two got even closer when Dustin started dating his daughter. On top of that, back in 2016, Wayne also revealed how he made a birdie on the first hole at Augusta National Golf Club while talking about his memorable moments at the golf course.

He said, “I birdied No. 1 on the first day. My son is a pretty good player, and he left his birdie putt about an inch short. I was teasing him that his old man made a birdie putt at Augusta before he did!”  Moreover, Wayne’s handicap also proves that he is a decent golfer, and given that he plays with probably one of the best players in the world, the number may get better.

Gretzky has in fact improved his handicap over time. Just over a decade ago, the 61-year-old was a 10.6 handicap and he’s now brought it down to 9.4. He can certainly bring it down further with consistent practice, but can he become a scratch golfer?
