In a recent press conference, Gooch, who currently holds a score of 11-under, engaged in a conversation, where in addition to sharing insights about his current performance at the $25M Event, he took the time to respond to questions regarding his defeat in London. When asked by the moderator about the potential win that would be added to his accomplishments if he emerged victorious in the final round and claimed the trophy, Gooch confidently replied that it would be his fourth triumph of the season.

He was then inquired on whether losing in London would give him a little fire. To which, he responded, “Listen, the fire never stops. There’s too many good players out here to not go out and try to go and win every week. You’ve got to put your head down and you’ve got to play great golf. Us as a team, we need to go and play better.”

Furthermore, he expressed that the mutual support among the players helps them enhance their golf performance for the upcoming matches. This practice of uplifting each other sustained throughout the rest of the season.

For the unknowns, just last month the LIV London event unfolded. Unfortunately, the 31-year-old golfer wasn’t able to display his peak performance. He concluded the event with a score of 6-under, trailing behind the winner, Cameron Smith, by 9 strokes. Nevertheless, the American professional golfer remains optimistic about his ongoing competition and may even be seen going to Rome for the upcoming Ryder Cup competition.

The highly anticipated Ryder Cup is scheduled for next month, and it is USA Team Captain Zach Johnson who holds the authority to select the team members. However, since the LIV points are not counted in the FedEx Cup, the automatic selection process does not apply to Gooch. 

Currently placed at the 86th ranking in the Ryder Cup, Gooch’s only chance of securing a spot in Rome is through being chosen as a captain’s pick. Whether or not this possibility becomes a reality remains uncertain and only time will reveal the outcome.
