The 2023 Wells Fargo Championship, One of the most anticipated golf tournaments of the year, finished with a whimper, which disappointed many fans and experts. Wyndham Clark won the 2023 Wells Fargo Championship with a final score of 19. The American golfer defeated World No. 5 Xander Schauffele in a thrilling match to win his maiden championship.

Some of the biggest names in golf could have done better at this PGA Tour event, which was held at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina from May 4 to May 7. As a result, it wasn’t fascinating to watch. Ratings for the event are likely to be lower than normal because the NBA and NHL playoffs are going on at the same time.

Twitter was awash in comments about the occasion, with many users lamenting the lack of enthusiasm for the tournament. Jordan Spieth‘s missed cut and the absence of notable athletes like Jon Rahm, and Scottie Scheffler, and Rory McIlroy‘s T-47 finish contributed to the event’s drab atmosphere. Furthermore, interest in the tournament was not really sparked by Wyndham Clark’s 4-shot lead with only 5 holes remaining.

Golf sports journalist Dan Rapaport took to Twitter to express his reaction to this event. He wrote, “First designated event that’s felt flat. No one’s fault. But no Rahm or Scottie, Rory way back, Spieth MC, and Wyndham Clark with a 4 shot lead with 5 to play. Plus, Quail Hollow is not exactly Riviera. NBA + NHL playoffs too. Will be interesting to see the ratings on this.”

One fan commented on Dan’s post, Awful board, no juice.  This was bound to happen.”

Another fan wrote, “So boring to watch.”

One fan expressed, Without Scottie and Rahm it’s a week when you miss some of the LIV guys who might show out if Rory and Spieth or JT and the other names don’t. Don’t like the exhibition golf but do miss having lefty and cam in real tournaments.”

Yet another fan wrote, Quail is spectacular, just bad luck that the tournament didn’t come down to the Green Mile.

One fan took to Twitter to write, The event was flat this year….”.
