The FedEx Cup playoffs are one of the most anticipated events of the season. And this year, it has a staggering prize purse of $75 million. And the winner will receive a huge chunk of that purse, which is around $18 million. Players play all year round in different tournaments to gain FedEx points and hope to break into the top 125( according to the old format). But there’s a change in the format this year, and only the top 70 will go for the first tournament at TPC Southwind.
This news has been quite heartbreaking for a few players who have been grinding themselves to secure their place in the FedEx Cup standings. And one such PGA Tour professional, who currently stands at 112th on the FexEx Cup list, exhibits his discontent with the new format.

The change in the FedEx Cup format has shaken many on the PGA Tour. Lucas Glover is one of them. The first event, the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis, is not far off and Glover has made it clear that he is not a happy man after the changes in the old format.
The 2009 US Open winner, Lucas Glover, in an interview with Golfweek, made no bones about his dissatisfaction. “It feels like the toothpaste is out of the tube,” he said. He further added, “Some of the guys who were pushing for 70 are now backtracking a little bit.
“I don’t know if it is because they are outside the top 70… it’s kind of silly. We’re touting ourselves as the best Tour in the world, so why wouldn’t you reward the best 125 guys and let them play in your biggest events… You finish 125th on the best Tour in the world, and you’re in one elevated event, the Players. That’s silly to me and always has been.”
