“That’s One Long Name”: PGA Golfer Collin Morikawa Hilariously Responded to His Wife Katherine Zhu’s Birthday Post of ‘New Name’

The American professional golfer, Collin Morikawa, married his long-time girlfriend on November 26, 2022. His wife, Katherine Zhu (now Morikawa), is a model and a tennis player. She was delighted with the beginning of the new chapter on her birthday. However, she expressed happiness by posting on Instagram with a “new name.”

The lovely couple tied the knot during an intimate black-and-white ceremony at Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles. The golfer talked to PEOPLE and expressed his happiness in marrying the love of his life. He said they met by chance, but sharing life was their dream. He told them, “Marriage means to be in love with each other for the rest of our lives.”

Morikawa and Zhu got engaged in November 2021, and a year later, they exchanged vows and promised to live together. However, the couple met years ago at college. Zhu has been known for being a supportive partner and has always been there for Morikawa during his traveling for the tournaments. We saw her dedication to her marriage in her birthday post, where she wrote, “starting another trip around the sun with a new name.” Her husband, the golfer, hilariously replied, “That’s one long name.”

During their beautiful wedding ceremony, a 10-piece wind and string orchestra played “most beautiful music.” They serenaded the couple and their guests. 100 close friends witnessed the matrimony along with family. And the Mindy Weiss Party Consultants planned the wedding. Zhu walked down the aisle looking elegant to the song “On Top of the World” by Imagine Dragons. The PGA pro chose “Somewhere Only We Know” by Allen & Bright to walk down the aisle.

During the ceremony, the pair exchanged traditional vows in front of the guests before reading private, handwritten vows to one another. While he was wearing a suit from Stitch+Heart, Zhu said on Instagram that her Vera Wang bridal garment was “the hardest secret to keep from him.” The special guest was Koa, their golden doodle at Zhu’s feet and wearing a tux.

How did the couple meet?

The European you pro told in a video for the PGA Tour about how he met the love of his life Zhu. They met in college and instantly clicked. He said, “We met in college and just clicked. It’s crazy because I won my first college tournament that next week, and we’ve done pretty good since – it’s really fun.” However, they both are athletes, and their relationships become competitive sometimes. Since they met, their relationship has been beautiful, and they find it fun. The couple mostly hit the course together: “Always, we never let each other win.”
