After a successful event in Australia this past weekend, the stars of LIV Golf are heading to the ‘Lion City’, Singapore. While the 48 golfers will have the privilege to compete at the incredible Sentosa Golf Club, the exclusive membership does allow fellow residents to play the 18-hole sport very easily. However, with the 6-figure membership fee, let’s take a look at how much it costs to play at LIV’s upcoming venue.
The Singapore tournament will mark LIV Golf’s fifth event of the season. It will commence on April 28th and end on the 30th of April. Nonetheless, similar to the Saudi-funded Tour’s $25 million prize money, the league’s venues are just as lavish as LIV’s prize offerings. In simpler terms, the Sentosa Golf Club is only for the ultra-rich.

The iconic golf club was opened in 1974 by the then-Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, and has previously hosted Singapore Open along with LPGA’s HSBC Women’s World Championship. Set on a lush island south of Singapore’s rump, the facility is surrounded by the Resorts World casino, Universal Studios, and a marina that attracts ocean-going yachts from as far as the Caribbean.

With a lavish environment, it isn’t easy for most avid golfers to get into the Sentosa Golf Club. Local Singaporeans are required to pay an exorbitant amount of S$500,000. However, the expatriates who are willing to pay for the extravagant membership, are asked a lot more than the citizens and permanent residents. To join the 36-hole club, the outsiders’ membership costs S$840,000 ($618,000).
The prices were massively inflated since the COVID-19 pandemic and have remained the same since. Despite the costly fee, the Club boasts 1600 members currently. It is mainly because of the lavish environment of the golf course. The Sentosa Golf Club was named as the ‘World’s Best Golf Club’ in 2019 at the World Golf Awards. Moreover, it was also labeled as the ‘Best Championship Course in the Asia-Pacific’ at Asian Golf Awards last year.
With so much achieved by the golf club, it is quite apparent the membership will also be hefty. As the superstars from the golf world arrive at the Sentosa Golf Club thanks to LIV Golf, the club may intend to further increase its membership fee. Either way, the venue would be a lovely sight for the fans while a joyful evening for the golfers.
With $618,000 for membership, it is quite evident not every golfer can afford the hefty asking price. As the details of LIV’s next venue were released on the internet, fans shared their views on the 6-figure fee.
Golf world reacts to LIV Golf’s costly venue
Though most users were stunned by Sentosa Golf Club’s membership fee, one fan calculated the club’s annual earnings. While another fan considers the $618,000 as an investment.
Wonder how many people just typed in $600,000 x 1,600 in their calculator 😂
For anyone wondering…
That’s $960,000,000

It's called a debenture, you buy your share in the club and when you leave your sell that share on to the new member which means you either sell for a profit or lose out. Pretty normal model in Europe and Asians top private clubs.

After an analysis of the amount, the golf world then trolled LIV Golf with its ‘Grow the Game’ mantra.
Nothing like growing the game on a course .0004% of the population can or ever will play. I get it. We have exclusive PFA stops as well. But nothing like this ostentatiousness

Growing the game. 1 multimillionaire at a time.
