‘That, to Me, Is So Important as a Father’: Tiger Woods Makes a Heartfelt Confession About His Son Charlie

The PNC Championship of this season is right around the corner. Tiger Woods and his son, Charlie, are ready to claim the trophy which slipped from their hands last year. As a father, Woods has come a long way in teaching his son. After his alleged scandal, people lost trust in the legendary golfer. However, he emerged as a responsible father. His teachings were reflected in Charlies’s performance. However, the former number one golfer recently spoke on the first episode of Bridgestone podcast.

In the podcast, he talked about his initial days on the PGA tour and his relationship with the father-like figure, Fred Couples. Woods also spoke about the outstanding golfer in making – his son, Charlie Woods. He explained how he trains his son and what matters the most to him as a father. After meeting with a deadly accident in February 2021, Woods lost track of his sport. He was stuck in bed for months, recovering. But he did not miss the chance to be with his son. 

During his recovery, he spent a lot of quality time with his son, guiding him in improving his game. The Woods duo played together at the father-son event and finished second after John Daly and his son in 2021. But this time, they want to take home the trophy. What are the beliefs of Tiger Woods as a father?

Tiger Woods believes that although Charlie is his son, he will make his own way in the sport. Lately, people have been talking a lot about Charlie and his career in golf. Even though it’s flattering, it creates pressure. The pro golfer believes that Charlie is still a kid and that we should leave him that way. Nit-picking is not a good idea. He believes that no matter how much he trains his son, Chalie won’t become Tiger Woods. He will be Charlie Woods, and he will stay that.

The golfer believes that Jr. Woods has his destiny, which is essential. Charlie will emerge great as a person, not because he is the great, Tiger Woods’ son. He said, “He’s gonna create his own path. And that, to me, is so important as a father that I provide that environment.” As a father, the pro golfer believes that he must provide his son with the environment needed for him to grow. He wants Charlie to avoid toxicity, media, and too much attention, which might become stressful and pressurize him into performing a certain way. 

However, Woods also mentioned that he was friendly with his son, but they could never be friends. They will always be father and son, who have a friendly and supportive relationship.
