‘That Did Not Feel Good’: After Recent Annoying Experience, Nelly Korda Exposes Her Forever Enemy on the Golf Course

The first LPGA major of the year is underway at The Club at Carlton Woods, with a lucrative share of the $5.1 million prize purse on the line. World No. 2 Nelly Korda, who missed last year’s edition, has been on a good run so far in the tournament. The 24-year-old is currently T4 after the second-round play was halted due to darkness.

Korda, who is hoping to win her second major after the 2021 Women’s PGA Championship, ended day 2 with a 2-under 70. The golfer later spoke to the press, recounting an “annoyingly positive moment” from her rollercoaster of a day at the course.

Nelly Korda had somewhat of a turbulent experience on the golf course on Friday. She mixed five birdies along with three bogeys for a score of two under 70. The young LPGA star couldn’t help but recall an annoying experience from the course during her interview with the press.

When asked if there was any irritatingly positive experience from day 2 at the Chevron Championship, Korda spoke about a funny interaction with a spectator. It occurred after one of her three-putts. “Actually it was really funny, someone in the crowd was like, you’re still 5-under. I was like, did you see that three-putt?” recalled Korda. “That did not feel good.”

Ahead of day 3 at the Carlton Woods, the golfer also shed light on the one thing she hoped to avoid. In her interview, Korda stated that she needed to avoid the dreaded three-putt “at all costs, at all times, forever.”

Kim A-Lim posted a seven-under 65 to move to the top of the leaderboard on Friday. She closed her round on the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course with back-to-back birdies on the eighth and ninth holes. The round, which was already delayed due to rain, was later halted due to rain. Kim now seats one stroke clear of Lilia Vu and Megan Khang. The 27-year-old has previously won the 2020 US Open and will be hoping to take the winner’s share of the $5.1 million prize purse home this year.

31 players, including Canadian Brooke Henderson, surrendered due to darkness and will be returning early on Saturday to complete their rounds. Henderson currently seats at the 6th position on the leaderboard. Meanwhile, fan-favorite Nelly Korda is tied at T4 with Thailand’s Patty Tavatanakit.
