Golf analysts have divergent views on Tommy Fleetwood’s choice to lay up at the 72nd hole of the Canadian Open. Trevor Immelman, the primary analyst for CBS, expressed surprise and said that the deception was not as difficult as it seemed. In a similar vein, journalist Dan Rapaport expressed his surprise at Fleetwood’s decision to rest on social media.

However, Fleetwood’s caddie got into a heated argument with journalist Dan Rapaport on social media, challenging Rapaport’s evaluation and inquiring as to whether or not the journalist was smoking crack.

Finnis’s question to Dan Rapaport was, “Were you there?! Were you in that position? I told you to add me and Tommy on social media and say it to our faces. Tommy’s got an iffy lie and he’s [just] stiffed two lob wedges in a row so why wouldn’t we lay up? Have you been to that golf course? So why are you giving out course management [advice].”

According to reports, Finnis vented his anger in a blunt social media direct message to the journalist. The message, “What the F are you doing?!” summed up Finnis’ ferocious displeasure with the journalist’s evaluation of Fleetwood’s play. The private altercation rapidly attracted the interest of golf enthusiasts and media outlets, igniting a storm of rumors and discussion.

On the 72nd hole at Oakdale Golf & Country Club, Tommy Fleetwood came agonizingly close to winning the Canadian Open for the first time on the PGA Tour. He ultimately lost the championship due to a crucial layup on the par-5 18th hole, which sparked a storm of debate and criticism.

With reasonably favorable scoring throughout the competition, competitors had a great chance to score a birdie on the 18th hole at Oakdale. The hole recorded an astounding total of 254 birdies, 15 eagles, 19 bogeys, and just one double bogey throughout the course of the week. Players could use it to jump significantly up the leaderboard.

Despite the obstacles, Fleetwood was still able to finish on par. He ultimately fell to Nick Taylor in a playoff as a result of this squandered opportunity to make a birdie, though. A stunning 72-foot putt by Taylor gave him the title and gave him the victory.
