While LIV Golf received backlash from the golf community, the scenario was different for TGL. The league, backed by the greatest golfer of all time, Tiger Woods, received appreciation from many. With that, it also bagged a lot of investors and sponsors. A former LPGA star also joined in by investing in one of the teams in the TGL.

The team is owned by Alexis Ohanian, the Reddit co-owner, and his wife and tennis legend Serena Williams. Now, weeks after collaborating with Willams, the retired golfer makes an honest confession about Williams being a business inspiration for many.

The tech-based innovation of Tiger Woods, which will take off in 2024, has many sponsors and investors. Not long ago it also collaborated with the broadcasting giant ESPN. Moving on to the investor list, there are names like soccer star Alex Morgan and the legendary golfer Michelle Wie West. 

Now, Wie West joined the league a few weeks back. Trusting the vision of Tiger Woods, she shook hands with Ohanian and Williams. 

Weeks after knowing Williams the businesswoman, Michelle Wie West, during a podcast, was inquired about her views on the tennis legend. She said: “Yeah, both the Williams sisters, you know, it’s really cool. Seeing Serena Williams kind of really start a fun, probably one of the first female athletes to start their own fund and to really invest in things that she believes in, you know, Venus is a big inspiration of mine as well.”

Added to that, she also talked about Alex Morgan as her inspiration. “Alex Morgan, as well. And a lot of athletes these days are just really being brave making bold choices. And, you know, I take inspiration from all of them.” Apart from this, the 34-year-old also talked about athletes taking an interest in making investments.

In the same interview, Wie West was asked to explain why athletes are turning into business investors these days. To which she boldly replied, “It feels like it’s about taking ownership of you know, where you want to spend your time. I’ve been very fortunate to have many sponsors.”

She continued, “It’s been fun in a second stage to really focus on investing in companies that I believe in that I want to be a part in that I want to give my time to, you know, each company that you’re partnered with is an investment of its own because it includes your time”
