Michelle Wie West may have embraced an early retirement from golf. But that hasn’t broken her ties with the sport. In fact, she is evolving even more, now that she has become an investor and put her money in Tiger Woods‘s new golf league TGL. A shining example of truly changing times, Michelle Wie West is not just an idol for youngsters, but also a true spirited woman. West has always voiced her opinions about women’s growth and upliftment in the golf world. And when she saw tennis superstars Serena Williams and Venus Williams and their enthusiasm towards promoting women’s sport, she immediately knew that she had to join them.
Michelle recently appeared on the Sports Pro’s The Big Interview podcast on which she explained the matter. West said, “The reason why I got excited about the Williams sisters and Alexis Ohanian, about investing is that I know that they’re super passionate about growing the women’s sports and the women’s side of things.”
She continued,”We really want to incorporate the women in this format. And as you said, it’s a completely new format with technology. And, I think it really paves the way to do something completely different, have those mixed team events, get the women involved.” After retirement, West is getting involved in this cause in any way she can.
This year she hosted the Mizuho Americas Open. Despite not playing, she was there every moment to support and guide the next generation of female golfers.
