The 2023 Genesis Scottish Open was a rollercoaster of emotions. As the event came to a close on Sunday, it served as a stage for intense competition among the best in the world. The event saw Scotland’s best player, Robert MacIntyre, duke it out with one of the world’s best players, Rory McIlroy.

As is the case in any game, there was someone who came second in this one as well. As “Rors” went on to win and create history, MacIntyre could only finish as a runner-up. Although the left-handed golfer experienced a loss, the competition saw a moment that left the golfing world in a feeling of awe!

Robert MacIntyre fought a hard battle as he came second at the Scottish Open held at the Renaissance Club, Scotland. As the Scottish golfer came excruciatingly close to winning the competition, Rory McIlroy pulled off an amazing shot to prevent his opponent from winning. Although the home favorite was visibly dejected as he finished second in such a close competition, his family was present there to embrace the golfer regardless.

MacIntyre had a strong pillar of support through his family when he was going against Rory. He was seen to have a tear in his eye as he finished his 18 hole of the final day with a birdie as he was hopeful of winning the competition. His loss tasted extra bitter since it came off on his home turf. After the loss, his family was seen receiving him with open arms as they consoled him. His loved ones made sure that the close finish didn’t bring in too much soreness.

The pro golfer, in the final round, was able to produce what can easily be called a top shot of the year as he struck the ball from a whopping 213 yards to just 3 feet while playing on the 72 hole. Although the Scot had pulled off a phenomenal shot, McIlroy edged him to win the competition by birdieing the last two holes. McIlroy sank an 11-foot birdie to finish first at a total score of 265 (15-under-par) while the Scottish lefty finished second with a total of 14 under 266 taking home $985,500.
