Did Joel Dahmen's withdrawal show weakness, or was it a smart move to regroup?

So we’re all aware of how Joel Dahmen faced a devastating penalty at the Shriners Children’s Open which has put his PGA Tour card in jeopardy. The 36-year-old American was slapped with a four-stroke penalty for carrying an extra 4-iron in his bag, turning his promising start into a nightmare. Dahmen self-reported the mistake, which downgraded his first two pars to double bogeys, leaving him in last place with a five-over 76.

It’s heartbreaking for Dahmen, who’s struggling to retain his tour status for 2025. Currently ranked 124 in the FedEx Cup Fall standings, he needs to break into the top 125. With only four fall events remaining, Dahmen must bounce back quickly. “I don’t know how it got there. It sucks,” he admitted, frustrated but taking responsibility. But what if we say that the golfer has found an easy way out of this turmoil?

Yes, the latest post by PGA Tour Communications on X suggested that Dahmen has withdrawn from the game. For the people in the back, we repeat it has been announced that Joel Dahmen has withdrawn from the game. Here’s what the tweet read, “Joel Dahmen WD before round two at Shriners Children’s Open”. And as one would’ve expected, that fans are so not happy about this.
