Jim Furyk has been just the perfect captain for the US Team. He led the team last year at the Presidents Cup when they had already clinched the trophy. After a close call, they managed to bring the trophy back to their country once again this year. Xander Schauffele’s decisive score at the Sunday round singles propelled the American team to an electrifying triumph over the International Team.
They entered the Sunday round with a lead of 11-7 and only needed 4.5 points to win over. Well, it was an easy task indeed. After lifting the trophy, the entire team also became a part of an elaborate celebration. And looks like, finally, Furyk will be performing his final duties as a captain.
Whichever team wins the Presidents Cup trophy has to take home the trophy to their city. Well, usually it is always the captain who gets off the airplane with the trophy in hand, and that is the last responsibility of the captain before he goes back to Jacksonville to live the regular life of a golfing professional. The PGA Tour Champions recently took to their official Instagram account and shared a picture of Furyk coming off the plane with the trophy in hand. They even captioned it, “Bringing the Cup home 🇺🇸 Captain Furyk has arrived in Jacksonville!”
