Despite making history by making the cut for Master 24 consecutive times, Tiger Woods landed himself at the bottom of the leaderboard with a 16-over. After the first major of the season, Woods stated that he thought things would go better at the next major of the season, as he stated, “I’m going to do my homework going forward at Pinehurst (U.S. Open), Valhalla and Troon (The Open), but that’s kind of the game plan.” It looks like things are not going quite as Woods planned. During the opening round at Valhalla, the 15-time major champion scored 1-over 72. Forget being at the top of the list; Mr. T has been failing to make it even to par!
No doubt, Woods had a rough start to the 2024 season. Apart from that, he faced quite a lot of hurdles when it came to his and Rory McIlroy’s brainchild—TGL. However, things have been looking up for the tech league, with almost all team rosters filled. A recent poll clearly showed that Mr. Charm is very much alive and which TGL team might have the most fan following.

Tiger Woods found himself tied for the 85th rank alongside Adam Scott after the Thursday round on the Kentucky greens. The two golfers once again found themselves in a state of competition but this time it was because of the TGL. The official Instagram account of the league shared a pole for the viewers to choose which of the two teams, Jupiter Links GC and Boston Common Golf, has a better logo. Tiger Woods’ team is leading by 57% votes, while the team that Adam Scott is on has the remaining 43% votes.

The former team is led by Tiger Woods and has Max Homa, rising star Tom Kim, and four-time PGA Tour winner Kevin Kisner as his teammates. The logo is a palm tree made on a red background, which indicates the source of inspiration for the players of the team: sun, sand, and vibrant energy, and also pays homage to the state of Florida and the city that the team is named after.
While the latter team, led by Woods’ partner Rory McIlroy, along with Adam Scott and six-time PGA Tour winner Keegan Bradley, is yet to fill their last seat. Their logo has a green background with a giant frog in between, which is a powerful symbol of unity that inspires them.
While Tiger Woods and Adam Scott have been finding their little joys through the victory feat of their team logo of TGL. Of the other 22 TGL golfers who teed off in the first round of the PGA Championship, 5 pros have landed themselves in the Top-5 position on the leaderboard at the second major of this season.

Xander Schauffele of the New York Golf Club leads the way after the first round of the PGA Championship
Xander Schauffele had an exceptional first round at the Valhalla. He went bogey-free, carding 5 birdies on the front nine and four birdies on the back nine. He finished at the top of the leaderboard with a 9-under 62. Coming close to victory at the Wells Fargo Championship and being defeated just by 5 strokes has indeed fueled the 30-year-old up!
Following him is Los Angeles Golf Club member Sahith Theegala. Opening the first round from the 10th hole, he scored two back-to-back birdies, but his luck did not favor him as he carded a bogey on the 12th hole. However, he played entirely safe throughout the round, landed himself on the T2 along with Tony Finau, and is just 3 strokes away from Schauffele.
