As the latest talk of the town has it, Greg Norman has officially said goodbye to LIV Golf’s CEO chair, marking the end of an era for the breakaway league. Despite being replaced by Scott O’Neil, Norman is leaving with his head held high as he recently expressed gratitude to the league’s chairman, Yasir Al-Rumayyan, and praised the progress LIV Golf has made under his leadership. “None of this would have been possible without the vision and leadership of LIV’s Chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan”, said Norman but what do the players think? Well, given the sudden change in leadership, one would expect them to lose their minds right? Well, the case is quite the opposite.

It seems like the golfers are more focused on LIV Golf’s future than on who might be their CEO. The breakaway league has just secured a major broadcast deal with FOX Sports and the players especially Brooks Koepka and Jon Rahm are excited about the opportunities it will bring. Starting in February, LIV Golf’s tournaments will air live across the FOX family of networks, including FOX, FS1, and FS2, with over 210 hours of competition set to be broadcast.

“Having FOX Sports on board is a huge win for LIV Golf. They know how to bring sports to life, and I’m pumped to see how they showcase what makes our game so unique. It’s awesome to have a partner that shares our vision, and I think the fans are going to love what’s coming”, said Koepka, well it is a big deal so the excitement is evident. “This partnership is a huge step forward for LIV Golf and our fans as it will help bring our tournaments to a broader audience. FOX Sports has a reputation for delivering world-class sports coverage, and I’m confident they will elevate the experience for everyone watching”, added Rahm.

Even the new CEO himself seemed quite pleased with this development. “We are thrilled to partner with FOX Sports, one of the preeminent broadcast networks in the world,” said Scott O’Neil. However, what is left to reveal is how much money exactly are both parties going to make from the deal.

Have an interesting take?

So, the financial terms of the deal between Fox and LIV Golf are finally out, and let’s just say that nothing is confirmed yet and we don’t have the exact numbers. According to Puck News, Fox will be paying LIV Golf a “modest” fee, which, as Sportico noted, is likely a tiny fraction of the whopping $700 million annual rights payouts that the PGA Tour receives. This relatively small fee suggests that the partnership is more focused on growing LIV Golf’s audience and presence, rather than generating massive revenue. It’s a smart move, really, as LIV Golf looks to establish itself as a major player in the world of golf.

Now, it’s worth noting that LIV Golf’s first two seasons were aired on the CW under a revenue-sharing model, without a rights fee. So, this new partnership with Fox marks a significant shift in LIV Golf’s broadcasting strategy. It’ll be interesting to see how this partnership plays out, and how it affects the world of golf as a whole. Representatives from both Fox and LIV Golf have been tight-lipped about the deal, so we’ll just have to wait and see how it all unfolds. What do you think will happen?
