As reported by ‘Handicap54’, remembering a conversation between Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker back in 2009, Lucas Glover said, “His influence was mainly that if he wanted to win a point for the team, he’d win a point for the team. I kid, kinda!”

“I just remember [Tiger Woods] and Steve Stricker talking about being foursome partners. They were discussing who would tee off, what holes, and all that. Tiger simply said, ‘Strick, I don’t care. Questions about this also stemmed from the fact that Luke Donald will lead Europe’s trophy defense at Bethpage. What are Glover’s intentions for the 2025 Ryder Cup?

After giving a much-needed insider’s scoop on the idea of Woods heading Team USA, Glover was also asked whether he would play for his team if given a chance. Interestingly, his answer won many hearts. Glover said, “Of course, I’d love to play in 2025 at Bethpage, if possible. If not, I’d like to be there in some capacity, representing our country.”

However, is Tiger Woods ready for such a role? That’s difficult to say. Back in November 2023, the golfer made it clear that he wasn’t thinking about it as he had other things on his plate. “Right now there’s too much at stake with our tour to think about a Ryder Cup,” he said. Bethpage is a venue known for attracting unrestrained fans. So who would be a better captain than Tiger Woods for the USA? The Ryder Cup captain for 2025 will most likely be announced in late February or early March. So fans will have to wait a bit longer.
