Do you ardently follow golf fashion? Then you must be eager to find out what Billy Horschel wore on the greens. One of the most fashionable golfers around, Billy never fails to amaze, be it his Ralph Lauren polos, FootJoy shoes, or quirky printed trousers. And we know, despite finishing runner-up in the 2024 British Championships, he did not disappoint you with his fashion choices once again. After all, only a few could have carried that backward hat look on a golf course! While looking at that, we can not miss the BDO logo on it. What does it stand for?
With an instant glance, it might appear like LBDO. But the ‘L’ is not a letter and a part of the design. BDO stands for Binder Dijker Otte. It is the 5th largest global accounting network and has over $12.8 billion in revenue. The company became a sponsor of the 62nd OWGR-ranked golfer in 2022. But do you know why the association was first-of-its-kind?
The 8x PGA tour winner was BDO’s first US golf brand ambassador. During his three-year partnership with the firm, Billy is supposed to wear its logo on his jersey and cap. This custom started back in the PGA Tour’s Sentry Tournament of Champions, held in January 2022. According to a press release from the Chicago-based accountancy, “Billy will help connect sport and golf enthusiasts to the firm’s services.” The firm also has certain things to offer to Billy in return.

Billy supports Feeding Northwest Florida foodbank. He also leads the Advocates Pro Golf Association (AGPA) Tour Billy Horschel Invitational, which aims to make golf a more accessible and diversified sport. BDO had committed to support these efforts through its collaboration. They further support his interests in growing golf with the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) as well as the Billy Horschel Junior Championship.
As stated by the CEO of the firm, Wayne Berson, Billy Horschel is the epitome of a person that they have been looking for to represent their organization. He said, “Billy exemplifies the people-first attitude of our firm through his leadership on the issues of food security and representation, as well as his personal values of hard work, continuous learning, and candor.” Billy also reciprocated to it.
“BDO approaches business the same way I approach the game of golf. Not only has the firm demonstrated impressive growth through its commitment to building a leading middle-market organization, its executive team is also dedicated to creating a sustainably inclusive culture. These ideals align with my work inside and outside the ropes,” Billy had said back in 2022. Now that you have decoded the BDO riddle, let us turn to some other things that caught our eyes during the Championships.

Have an interesting take?
To start with, Billy’s attire was once again a hit on Sunday. Spectators were bowled over by the cardigan paired with the dark navy pants and striped polo that he chose to wear. The stripes perfectly complemented the solid-colored cardigan by adding a little texture to the attire. RLX had tailored the cardigan to a perfect fit, making it even more eye-catching. Not only his attire, his bag at The Royal Troon also garnered some curiosity. That also has a logo!
We found Billy carrying a custom-made bag sporting the logo of the London-based West Ham United football club. His big-time fandom for the club goes back to his college days at the University of Florida in early 2000. It was then he watched the British film “Green Street” which features Millwall and West Ham soccer teams. Since then, Billy has been religiously following every other development regarding the club.
“Whenever I try to come over here, I try to get the West Ham bag out. I love to hear “Up the Hammers” and “Come on you Irons,” Billy had said earlier this week. With his charm and impeccable fashion sense, it is natural that he will have an impressive list of endorsements from the fashion realm. Let us take a look.

Probably the most iconic endorsement deal of the 37-year-old golfer is the one with Ralph Lauren. Billy became the ambassador of the brand in 2011. In a groundbreaking development, in 2018, Ralph Lauren, for the first time, collaborated with an athlete to launch Horschel’s line. That included apparel for men and women in mainly blue and pink color scheme. Horschel was involved in curating the minutest details of the line. The most talked-about piece of the line was an updated version of the Octopus pants that broke the internet back in 2013.
Billy donned the unconventional Ralph Lauren piece in the 2013 US Open. But, as he recalled in 2019, he did not take much time to decide to wear the pair. “The month before I had won Zurich and shortly after that victory I received a call from Kelly Broad, the Director of Marketing for Golf at Ralph Lauren. Kelly called me and said they were putting my U.S. Open look together. She asked me to wear Octopus pants. ‘No big deal,’ I thought. I’ll wear whatever they ask is how I approach our relationship,” Billy had said to Golf-threads.
Billy believes that those pairs strongly brought him into the golf fashion scenario. So bringing those back in 2018 was a “homage” to that, according to Billy. So they launched the octopus-printed shorts that Billy wore during his practice round at the PGA Championships in August 2018. Not only dress, but his thoughts go equally behind his shoes, for which he has an endorsement deal with FootJoy.

Billy’s FootJoy pairs that he wears on the greens are custom-made and are designed by Billy himself. He works with the brand representatives to craft those perfect pairs. Again, he is also a trendsetter or, better to say, a trendbreaker here. ditching the popular norms of wearing athletic shoes, Billy loves to stick to the classics. “I like to pull an old, classic look into my outfits and the athletic style shoes don’t pair well,” Billy had said, explaining his choice.
Apart from these, Billy also has tie-ups with Titleist, NetJets, and PING among others. Interestingly, he is an investor as well. His investments went to ‘Beam’, and he further predicted that it would become the Nike of CBD. He explained his calling by stating, “The more I thought about it, the more I thought about how this industry is going to grow over the next five or ten years.” We await more such unconventional outings from Billy on and off the greens!
