Being a part of the Solheim Cup team is a rather significant part of a golfer’s season. Well, Angel Yin was not given the opportunity last year. She didn’t hold back when it came to expressing her frustration over being left off the 2024 Solheim Cup U.S. team. Despite having a strong track record, Yin found herself excluded from the roster, a decision that stung. In a candid moment on the Welcome to Par-tee with Tisha Alyn podcast, she didn’t sugarcoat her feelings, revealing just how much it hurt her. “It made me feel like sh*t,” she confessed. Her anger was palpable as she described the moment she learned she wouldn’t be part of the historic event.

While she understood that the selection process was based on performance and stats, the sting of being overlooked was undeniable. Yin’s passion for the game and desire to contribute to the team’s success was evident as she reflected on the difficult decisions made by the captain. In the end, it was clear that while Yin respected Nelly Korda’s leadership and the team’s triumph, a part of her still couldn’t shake the feeling of being left behind.

And that was not all for her 2024 setbacks. Last year, when she was all set to appear at her maiden HGV Tournament of Champions, she had her ankle broken and was carried in a wheelchair. Although she bounced back by the end of the season, the 2025 was not a great start for her. She came back to the TOC and well finished T18. But Yin is doing better at the Founders Cup this week. After a successful first round, she is tied for the third position, with an impressive 5-under.

As Yin entered the post-round presser happily, she was asked about her injury. To which she said, Yeah, I think I’m fully fit. It’s not like where it used to be. I’m still trying to get into jumps to get my reflexes up. That I don’t think has any effect on golf because we’re just walking. Until we start running to get faster on the golf course, I think I’m okay right now.”

While Angel Yin is yet to show her form in the 2025 season, let us not forget the gracious comeback that she made last year, after not being selected for the Solheim Cup US Team.

Angel Yin bounces back at the Tour Championship

After the Solheim Cup, Angel Yin bounced back with incredible determination, proving her strength and focus in the CME Group Tour Championship. She played with unwavering confidence and poise, particularly in high-stress moments where her competitive edge shone through. A potential penalty on the par-4 fourth hole—stemming from a questionable drop—could have derailed her, but Yin kept her cool and avoided any penalties, continuing her strong performance without missing a beat.

Though she fell just short of the title, finishing second, her resilience throughout the tournament highlighted a powerful return to form and a promising future ahead. Given the setbacks she had faced earlier, her feat was quite an achievement indeed. She had to make several adjustments too, to make it happen. For instance, she hired a companion who helped her make all of her decisions on her own.
