The features of outstanding golfers were visible in Tiger Woods during his childhood. And he received the right push and motivation from his father, the late Earl Woods. He was the one to witness the potential Woods had as a child. Fans would not have been able to see the legendary golfer play and win 15 major championships if it wasn’t for his father.
However, after his father’s demise in February 2006, he lost track of his game and life. He became more aloof and isolated himself. Even golf could not give him happiness because it reminded him even more of his late father. Therefore, he took time off from the sport. However, his then-caddie, Steve Williams, was unhappy about his decision to take a break from golf. But he was even more displeased by his return.

Why was Williams not on board with Tiger Woods in 2006?
People lost the great Tiger Woods after his father’s demise. He used to stay alone and missed many tournaments because he wanted to take off. However, he returned to the US Open after his brief break in June 2006 at Winged Foot. But his former caddie Williams was not on board with his decision. The former number one was out of practice, and returning to the major championship after no training was a mistake. Williams said, “it was obvious he was incapable of playing well – his mind wasn’t on golf. He’d made a mistake to come back for such a big event.”
A caddie knows a golfer best and is well aware of the potential. It convinced Williams that Woods did not have the level to win a major championship. However, a caddie knew that the pro golfer was carrying emotional baggage and he won’t be able to focus on golf. In his book ‘Out of the rough,’ he wrote, “The emotional shock and lingering grief were too strong to overcome, and it was definitely the least focused I’d seen him,” said Williams.
However, it was the first time he saw the greatest golfer in such pain and mental trauma. He was broken completely. Woods was brittle, which did not surprise Williams. It was apparent, as Sr. Woods was the most prominent supporter of the pro golfer ever had.

“He couldn’t compete, and it was no surprise that he missed the cut at a major championship for the first time.”
Where was Woods during his break from golf?
According to Wright Thompson from ESPN, 25 days after burying his father, Woods visited Navy SEALs. Just 15 days before returning to the 2006 US Open, the pro golfer spent his time in the hidden mountain training facility east of San Diego. The place was called La Posta, which was located on a barren trench. To get over this pain, the former number one golfer went to the Mexican border, where everything was under a tan and green color. It looked like Afghanistan.
