Stephan Jaeger held on to his lead in the Famers Insurance Open in a gritty display of skill and mental fortitude. The moving day at the South Course was always going to be a test of fortitude, and the German International sank five birdies at clutch moments to retain the top spot. Still on the hunt for his maiden PGA Tour victory, Jaeger came to Torrey Pines unnoticed with Ping gear in his quiver.
The most famous weapon in his golf bag is the Anser putter that came courtesy of his history-making round eight years ago. As he continues his quest for a maiden victory, let’s take a deeper look at his arsenal.

A Ping G410 LST driver tops his bag with a Project X HZRDUS T1100 shaft. The German averaged 306.1 yards driving distance from his 33 outings last season, which earned him a place within the Top 50 in the PGA Tour’s driving distance table. This year, so far, Jaeger has averaged around 310.9 yards. Along with G410, Jaeger also uses Ping G410 LST 3-Wood sporadically.

Next in line are Ping S55 irons. The World No. 101 is comfortable with the older set of irons, which came out more than a decade ago. Jaeger prefers custom lofts for his irons and uses a Dynamic Gold Mid TI x 100 shaft. The six-time Korn Ferry Tour winner ranked 62nd in Strokes Gained: Approach to Green and 16th in GIR% last season.
Stephan Jaeger also carries Ping wedges in his bag. Currently, the German Pro carries three wedges: the Ping Glide Pro, with varying ranges from 49-50 degrees, 53-54 degrees, and 57-58 degrees. The six-time Korn Ferry Tour winner prefers Dynamic Gold TI S400 Shafts for his wedges.

Putters and golf balls that Stephan Jaeger uses
The putter that Jaeger uses, is a rather special one. In fact, it was gifted by John Solheim, the Ping CEO. Jaeger shot a 58, a record in professional golf at the Ellie Mae Classic on the Web.com Tour, matching Jim Furyk’s record on the elite circuit. The Ping 50th Anniversary Scottsdale Anser Putter was his reward from the Ping CEO, Golf Monthly reported.

Jaeger, however, uses a Titleist Pro V1 ball, which is quite popular among many PGA Tour Pro’s arsenals, most notably among Patrick Cantlay, Max Homa, Jordan Spieth, Wyndham Clark, and others. If the German can hold on to his overnight lead over the top PGA Tour pros in the fourth round as well, he will seal his place for the next Signature event at Pebble Beach. But South Course at Torrey Pines is living up to his notoriety, as Jaeger’s 1-over 73 score reveals.
