‘Step Away and…’: An Emotional Loss Forced Social Media Star Paige Spiranac to Make an Unexpected Move in 2015

Paige Spiranac can be best described as a social media celebrity and a former professional golfer. Before the gorgeous golfer switched to being a full-time influencer, she also tried her luck in pro golf. However, things didn’t go in her favor as she eventually quit her career in the field. Moreover, she once shared her experience after a match when she decided to take a break from golf for a special reason.

Paige Spiranac’s unforgettable professional golf debut

Known for her bold pictures and fearless personality, Paige Spiranac is the most popular internet sensation in the golf world. The former San Diego State golfer has more than 3.7 million followers on social media. But before she turned herself into the Instagram star she is, Spiranac had other dreams.

The ex-professional golfer tried her best to play great golf on the field. However, she was constantly in the public’s eye throughout her tournaments. And she couldn’t perform very well in most of her events. 

During the 2015 Omega Dubai Ladies Masters, Spiranac received a sponsor’s exemption to play on the field. But despite the opportunity, the golfer couldn’t play to her full potential. Spiranac ended up missing the cut and finishing 101st among 107 golfers. She described her feelings during the tournament as being “so nervous that I’m going to throw up and cry”.

Why did Paige Spiranac take a break from golf?

After being completely disappointed and losing all hope, Spiranac understood she wasn’t ready to continue playing. And in her post-tournament press conference, Spiranac couldn’t keep a hold of her tears.

“At the moment, clubs are going in the water,” she said. But I think I’m going to, I learned a lot this week and I grew a lot as a person. I think I’m going to go back home and kind of re-evaluate everything and see if golf is still in my future or not.”

She also talked about how she was going to take a break from social media to stay away from all negativity. “I’m definitely going to not look at my phone for a while,” she said. “Probably take a break from social media…”.

 Despite giving it all she had, Spiranac couldn’t make the cut in her first-ever tournament. And that must have been extremely heart breaking for her. However, the social media star has everything figured out for her now. Moreover, she is so happy in her current career, she might never want to return to professional golf.
