It’s been quite some time since Scottie Scheffler was arrested. Even his fellow pros thought of it as a joke initially, and so did the entire world but it soon gained a lot of traction as a lot more updates came forward. Recently, the world’s no. 1 golfer’s millionaire caddie Ted Scott, who he affectionately calls, Teddy, talked to the team of Golf Subpar. They talked about a lot of things, and there Scott revealed what his reaction was to the news of the 2x Masters winner’s arrest.
Teddy was staying with Scheffler just a mile from Valhalla, and the golfer had left early for his routine pre-game preparations. After he left, Scott soon received a text from a friend saying “Sorry, bud,” which initially confused him. However, it wasn’t much later that Scott saw a text about an accident at the beginning of the golf course. Scott told the Golf Subpar that initially he was worried about the golfer being involved in a car accident. “I thought, “Oh my gosh, Scotty hit and killed somebody in his car!” That was my first thought, trying to put those two together—he accidentally hit somebody. Oh my gosh, this is terrible! So then I quickly got on my phone and started trying to research,” said Scott.
He later found out that Scheffler had been arrested, but not in connection to the accident. The morning was chaotic as he tried to figure out what was happening and how to help. “I started calling his family and his friends, trying to figure out what to do and how to help. Um, just crazy, you know?” continued Scott. Scheffler is a family man, and he loves his family dearly, be it his dear wife Mere, his son Bennett, his sisters, or his parents. Naturally, Scott thought his family would have clear updates, and resorted to them for concrete information.

This golfer-caddie duo shares a good relationship, they are more like family to each other. After Scheffler won his second Masters this year, his wife was not there, but his other family members were. The 28-year-old did not want to take his victory walk from the 18th alone and asked Teddy to join him. Even in his victory speech, he lovingly thanked his looper for everything he does for him.
It was May 18th, 2024, when Scheffler was arrested. He was taken into custody and was faced with multiple charges, which included a second-degree assault of a police officer and reckless driving. The golfer was released within an hour, made on time for his tee-off. The golfer described the events as a “big misunderstanding.” The charges were later dropped. Scheffler’s bagman later revealed how people perceive the world’s best golfer, especially his father.
