In what turned out to be the highlight of the day, Alison Lee holed out her second shot on the second hole in the afternoon session of the Solheim Cup. Partnered with close friend Megan Khang, the reemerging Lee made the already vocal crowd absolutely raucous. Fueling the celebration, both her and Megan Khang’s caddie enthusiastically stripped off their shirts, much to the amusement of onlookers.
After the round, Lee was asked whether the celebration was a spur-of-the-moment thing or planned to some degree. She answered by saying that Megan Khang’s caddie, Jack Fulghum, was already pumped up before teeing off that day, and after the first hole he told the pair that he would offer $500 to whoever putts the ball with one less stroke.
Lee went on to say, “I said I don’t want your money. I don’t need $500. How about you take your shirt off, and he’s like, yeah, I’ll do it, and he looked over at my caddie, Shota, and he’s like, you’re going to do it,”. After the unbelievable happened five minutes later, Fulghum quickly took his shirt off and Taylor ‘Shota’ Takada kept his end of the bet too, and went bare-chested. Hilariously, the audience got to see two shirtless men running around a golf course.

Megan Khang added, saying, “We’re also just happy that Captain Stacy Lewis wasn’t mad at us.” When Lewis caught up to them, she apparently told them that they were going viral as the video spread like wildfire. Lee and Khang won their match against Anna Nordquist and Madelene Sagstrom by 4 and 3. The moment is especially sweet for Alison Lee, who is playing her first Solheim Cup after missing the last three.

Alison Lee and her Solheim Cup journey
In her rookie year, a 20-year-old Alison Lee made her first appearance in the much coveted Solheim Cup. However, things did not go as planned for her as she ran afoul of the laws of the game by picking up the ball, thinking a conceded putt was given by Suzanne Petterson and Charley Hull after missing her par putt on the 17th hole with game at a tie. This caused Lee to be left in tears. But the next day, Team USA rallied behind her and won the singles session by five points and won the Solheim Cup.
For the last 9 years, her journey was rough. She briefly lost her LPGA card but worked hard afterwards. However, she hasn’t won on the LPGA Tour since. She did win an LET event in October of last year after coming to know that she would not be playing in the 2023 Solheim Cup.

After the snub, she said she felt motivated to do better and after a rocky start to 2024 in which she suffered a dog bite, she accumulated 4 top-10 finishes and 6 top 20 finishes. Surely for her, with the hole out, she comes full circle in her Solheim Cup journey.
