The talk of the merger has been the biggest one in the golf world. The only question that often remains is, will there be any merger at all? If yes, then when? While most of them are doubtful about it, since there have been no concrete advancements to the agreement, some of them know the only solution—Donald Trump. The POTUS has been associated with the golf world tightly, be it his deep connections with LIV Golfer Bryson DeChambeau or his friendly ties with PAC member Tiger Woods.
Donald Trump owns a few golf courses worldwide, each reflecting his brand’s luxury and exclusivity. Some of them are also hosting grounds for the events. He himself is an avid golfer and has close ties with Saudi Arabia, maybe this is why, he said, “I could probably get it done. I would say it would take me the better part of 15 minutes to get that deal done,” on the “Let’s Go!” podcast when asked about his take on the $3 billion deal. And as it turns out, his victory in 2024 is what might solidify the move all the more.
Former Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, who had a close personal relationship with Trump, played golf with him at least five times in both the United States and Japan. During a visit to Trump Tower in New York in November 2016, shortly after Trump was elected president, Abe also gifted him a set of gold-plated golf clubs. Trump is POTUS again, and he is meeting Yook Suk Yeol, soon, and the latter is preparing all for it.

According to NBC Sports, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol reportedly got out his golf clubs for the first time in 8 years. He resumed his golf practice activity because he knows Trump’s love for golf, and how the two might play a round. The purpose of the meeting is economic discussions as Yoon’s approval rating in South Korea plunged to a record low of 17 percent last week, and he is concerned with Trump’s plan for a 20 percent tariff on all imports.

There is a high chance that Donald Trump’s persistence will finally resolve the rift. Even former PAC member Rory McIlroy believes that his becoming president is one of the keys to the ultimate solution to the golf problems.

Ahead of the 2024 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship last weekend, Rory McIlroy shared his views on Donald Trump winning the presidential elections and what he thought about the 78-year-old’s “15-minute” claim. To this, the World No. 3 added that he completely agrees with him. Associations with Saudi Arabia might not be the only reason why the Northern Irishman affirmed Trump’s thoughts.
The 4x major winner noted that the President admires the sport and now with Elon Musk on his side, it is easier for the duo to set the path straight for the much-delayed merger. “He might be able to. He’s got Elon Musk, who I think is the smartest man in the world, beside him. We might be able to do something if we can get Musk involved, too.” The world knows the relationship Musk and Trump have had over the years. The X owner is now the “genius” that the world needs to protect, as we don’t have many, says Trump.
