Hideki Matsuyama started 2024 at The Sentry. His performance there, however, was not what he would have expected. The 8x PGA Tour winner finished in 58th place in the field of 59. The 31-year-old is now scheduled to play at the Sony Open from January 11 to January 14, and there he will be looking to make a comeback with a bang.
Matsuyama has seen many glory days in the past, especially in 2021, when he became the only Japanese golfer to win a major with his incredible Masters run. And this week, he will undoubtedly try to replicate that success at Waiʻalae Country Club in Hawaii. And with his multi-brand packed bag, perhaps he does have a shot to do so!

The one-time major winner is not sponsored for equipment by any single brand. This gives him the freedom to choose the best clubs for his game from across a variety of companies. And he uses a mix of Srixon, TaylorMade, Cobra and more clubs for the perfect delivery on the greens.
Starting with his driver, Hideki Matsuyama opts for the Srixon ZX5 MKII, a low-spinning model that offers forgiveness and adjustability. He has it set to 9.5 degrees of loft and uses a Graphite Design Tour AD-DI 8TX shaft, which is known for its stability and low launch angle.
For his fairway woods, the golf pro carries two different models: the TaylorMade SIM2 Ti and the Cobra King RadSpeed Tour. The SIM2 Ti is a titanium-headed wood that delivers high launch and low spin, while the RadSpeed Tour is a compact and versatile wood that features a carbon fiber crown and adjustable weights. Matsuyama has them set to 15 and 19 degrees of loft, respectively, and uses Graphite Design Tour AD shafts in both.
Moving on to his irons, the PGA Tour star trusts the Srixon Z-Forged II, a classic muscle-back design that offers maximum control and workability. He has them in 4-PW and uses True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400 shafts. These are stiff and heavy for optimal consistency and accuracy.

For his wedges, Matsuyama uses the Cleveland RTX 4 Forged Prototype, a custom-made version of the popular RTX 4 wedge, with 52-10, 56-8, and 60-08 degrees of loft. It undoubtedly gives him a wide range of options for different shots around the greens, and perhaps that’s why it’s one of the most popular choices for many PGA Tour pros.
