A friend in need is a friend indeed. A former DP World Tour golfer proved it right. Previously, we saw him shielding 16-time DP World Tour winner Sergio Garcia when he was consistently criticized for not paying a fine to the European Tour. And this fine was charged to all the LIV defectors who played in the inaugural match of the LIV Golf Series without the authorization of the tour.

Asian Tour pro takes stand for a LIV friend

As some of the players defected to the PIF-funded league last year, they garnered a lot of criticism from the golf community. Moreover, they carried the reputation of being traitors for betraying their old tours. Their former tours went on to bar them from participating in any of their events last year. But this year, as far as the PGA Tour is concerned, they issued a merger with LIV Golf and settled on allowing the players to play in a few of the PGA events.

While the golf world is gradually getting familiar with the LIV Golf League, there are some people who still get fun out of splashing mud in this Saudi-backed League. And in that regard, the Asian Tour pro, Scott Hend, took his stand for yet another LIV defector over Twitter.

Now, professional golfer Scott Hend, and Sky Sports Golf Reporter Jamie Weir, got engaged in a Twitter banter regarding the unpaid dues of the LIV defector. Hend twitted,  “He [Garcia] doesn’t have to pay the fine if he decided to no longer be a member and play DP World Tour.” Thus, taking a stand for Garcia. And in reply to that tweet, Weir tweeted, “Scott, you’re making zero sense”. And this social media battle lasted for a long period of time.

Hence, we can safely say that Scott Hend nurtures a habit of defending his LIV friends, despite himself being an Asian Tour golfer.
