As the golfing world gears up for The Open Championship, Spanish golfer Jon Rahm, has made his stance clear on the potential return of banned players to the PGA Tour. In a candid pre-tournament interview, Rahm expressed his understanding of the conflicting sentiments surrounding the issue.
While acknowledging the allure of certain events and golf courses, he also recognised the hesitance among PGA Tour players to welcome back those who had defected to the LIV Golf circuit. Unafraid to voice his opinion, Rahm asserted the need for a punishment for the returning players.
However, he admitted that as a golfer, his primary focus lies in hitting the golf ball and doing his best on the course, leaving the political decisions to the appropriate authorities. As The Open approaches, Rahm’s strong complaint serves as a testament to the ongoing debates and complexities surrounding the merger and the potential reinstatement of LIV Golf players.

Rahm explained, “I can understand people on the PGA Tour not wanting those players back, and I can also understand why some of them want to come back. There’s some great events that a lot of people probably want to go and play again, some great golf courses, as well.”
When asked if any sort of penalties should be imposed on the players who chose to return he candidly spoke his mind. He said, “I do believe that some punishment should be in order, but I don’t know what — I’m not a politician. That’s not my job. My job is to hit the golf ball and try to do the best I can.”
