The third session of the Solheim Cup 2023 is over now. The US team still holds the lead. Looking at the stats it’s evident that Lexi Thompson and Megan Khang have been true pillars of support for the US team so far in the tournament.
After their powerhouse performances in the first three rounds, the duo have taken a break from the fourth round, to rest and recover for the singles matches on Sunday. Here is a summary of how they have held the US Flag up high with their game in the past two days.

In the foursomes rounds, on both days, Lexi Thompson and Megan Khang paired up together and blasted crackers on the course. On both occasions the duo won their matches, putting points up on the table for the US team.
This morning the duo stepped up to the tees for the second time as a pair. After the first eight holes, Europe asserted a 5-3 lead over the US team. And then the bombs went bang as the Thompson-Khang duo scored three straight wins in the next three holes to take the lead in their hands, and the rest of the match just slipped into their bags smoothly.
Friday morning session was also a dramatic journey for the Thompson-Khang duo. They started off on a high horse with three straight wins on the first three holes. There is something about their three straight wins that just sweeps matches for them. However, the next ten holes didn’t let them take a win.

The teams halved seven of these holes, and the European team won the rest of the three holes, equalizing the lead that the US team had earned. However, the US team put two more wins on the board by the time they were done with the 17th holes and didn’t have to play the 18th.
Although the two of them weren’t paired up together in the afternoon four-ball session on Friday, both of them played the round with different partners.
Thompson and Khang try their hand at four-ball as well

Lexi Thompson and Lilia Vu joined hands together to play four-ball on the first day afternoon. The duo struggled to find their first hole win, while the Georgia Hall and Leona Maguire pair held on to their lead with their one win until the thirteenth hole.
In the last five holes, the teams won two holes each, and the Europe team won the match. However, the US team put up a fierce fight and took the game until the last hole.
Megan Khang, on the other hand, paired up with Rose Zhang to face Madelene Sagstrom and Gemma Dryburgh to tie the match which went neck-and-neck until the last moment. The lead kept moving from one side to the other throughout the match.

With so much effort from their side nonstop, the two powerhouses surely need some rest. Hopefully, they will recover from fatigue and return fresh tomorrow for the final singles showdown.
