Lexi Thompson didn’t have much to show for herself this year except for her performance in the recently concluded Solheim Cup. A week later, she carried the positive momentum to the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, finishing tied eighth on the leaderboard.

Although, the 28-year-old golfer is still some distance away from her best performance, this is surely a positive sign. At least the 11-time LPGA tour winner herself thinks so. After the conclusion of the tournament, she shared an update on her Instagram, saying she has “a lot of positives to take from it.

Coming back from the Solheim Cup disappointment as the American failed to win, she did well in the opening round, sealing the second spot. Although, her form faltered a little on the second day, she made a strong comeback on the final day.

On the final day, she went five-under through hole 12, and climbed up the leaderboard. But finishing the last six holes at even par meant she had to settle for no. 8 with Yealimi Noh, winning $55,070.

Sharing some snippets from the tournament she thanked her fans and sponsors for standing by her. Noting that she had a lot of positive takeaways from the Top 10 finish, she wrote: “Thank you to all the sponsors , volunteers and fans this week at the @nwachampionship for making it possible! Was a nice week here and played solid, a lot of positives to take from it.

But as evident from her Instagram post, she is concerned but not worried. The positive momentum gained from the Solheim Cup (three wins and one loss) reflected in her performance in the NW Arkansas Championship. And with fans behind her, she certainly hopes to carry that to next tournaments.
