The first day of the much-anticipated Solheim Cup is finally here. The audience has filled the stands, cheering for their favorite teams. Europe is under the leadership of Suzanne Petersen, and the US is headed by Stacy Lewis, and it looks like this time they’re ready to grab a win.
As the first round of foursomes begins, the US and Europe are divided into groups of four and paired into teams of two. The Americans gained an upper hand over their opponents in the earlier session on Friday, but now, as per a former USA golf star, clouds of worry seem to be circling them!

Is Team USA in trouble at the Solheim Cup?
In the last term of the Solheim Cup, though the Americans won the earlier rounds, they conceded the title to Team Europe. In 2021, there was also much controversy regarding one of Korda’s shots near the hole and the perpetual 10-second rule regarding it, where Team USA walked away with the points. Still, eventually, Europe headed home with the trophy. This time, the famed Beth Ann Nichols fears that a similar situation may be in the works.
This year, the US seems to be in full form and is dominating the ground on Friday morning, and the nation is keeping track of its success. Nicholas, the esteemed Golf Week analyst, who back in the day was a golf prodigy herself, just this morning shared an update on Twitter, writing, ‘Cheyenne Knight and Ally Ewing put the first point on the board for Team USA, winning 5 and 4 over Charley Hull and Emily Pedersen’.
Hours later, however, it seems like she thinks the tables may be turning. Nicholas shared another update after the morning session of the day and said, “Good morning! Americans have dominated most of the morning, but there’s a shift brewing.”

The morning shift of the first round ended with the Americans taking the lead, winning all four foursomes, and completely dominating Team Europe at home. However, like they’ve proved in the past, Team Europe is not one to throw in the towel so easily, and hence they just may prove the golfer turned analyst right!
How well did Team USA start off the first round of the international event?
This year, the US is in full form and is roaring on the ground. Lexi Thompson, who was having a particularly unfulfilling season too, seemed to have found sturdy ground as she paired up with Megan Khang to beat Maja Stark and Linn Grant by 2 and 1 (2-point lead with one hole to spare).
Danielle Kang and Andrea Lee too dominated on the greens, and despite taking their face-off to the last hole, they came out triumphant, beating Celine Boutier and Georgia Hall 1 up.

Allisen Corpuz and Nelly Korda, too, showed that despite their age, they were a pair to be trifled with at the international event and beat the veteran European stars Leona Maguire and Anna Nordqvist by one.
Ally Ewing and Cheyenne Knight paired up and came through for the American side too, absolutely blowing away the English LPGA stars Charley Hull and Emily Kristine Pedersen, trashing with 5&4.
